Elections
The District’s election procedure is to elect a total of five (5) commissioners to serve on its Board, with one each to represent the Cities of Nederland, Port Neches, and Groves respectively and two (2) to represent the City of Port Arthur. All qualified voters residing in the District are entitled to vote for one candidate for each position to be filled.
Elections were previously held in May of even-numbered years. Pursuant to H.B. 5693 beginning September 1, 2025 elections will be held in November of odd number years.
The next election date for the District is November 2, 2027, wherein three (3) Commissioners will be elected to represent the District. One to represent each the City of Port Arthur, City of Groves, and City of Port Neches. Polling locations will be posted. Candidates are required to be a resident of and own taxable property within the part of the District located within the boundaries of the City in which they are seeking election. Packets will be made available in July 2027.
